Random Thoughts Thursday

-Last week, I randomly visited DC for the weekend. Boy did I need that time away from everything. I will say that I feel somewhat rejuvenated, especially in re-re-restarting my job search and NYC marathon training.

-I wonder if you are allowed to check out LARGE Bibles from the library because I have a ‘bible bump’ (aka ganglion cyst) on my foot? I cannot seem to find my New American Bible that we had to purchase in high school for our religion classes. It’s always some sh*t with my right foot. Fortunately, the cyst does not hurt, but I plan on making an appointment with a podiatrist soon.

Why Is It Called a Bible Bump?

These types of cysts are sometimes called Bible bumps because historically, people have tried to flatten them out by laying a heavy book on top of them. The most common book used for this purpose would tend to be the Bible. That being said, we don’t recommend using this antiquated approach, since it could end up damaging soft tissue in your joint and cause additional pain and bruising.

I think “laying a heavy book on top of them” is an understatement. From my knowledge, I thought you were supposed to smack the sh*t out of the cyst with the heavy book.

-I don’t think the folks at The Soccer Mom Blog have not met my husband because we stay having homemade banana bread in the house.

-Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people?

-What the hell is wrong with people (part II). Have you heard of the newest Tik Tok trend?

-Yay for cooler temperatures. Hopefully, this means that I will be a bit more productive while training for NYC Marathon. Speaking of cooler temperatures, it looks like some stores already are getting ready for Christmas.

Question(s) for the Day?

      1. It would be no problem if I still lived in NYC. Now, I have to make travel and accommodation plans . . . As you know, NYC is NOT a cheap city, and I might be too old to couchsurf. I think that I will make my go/no-go decision during the 1st week in Oct.

      1. My plan is to spread out the shopping, but I always end up doing the bulk of it on the 23rd of Dec. Since marrying the Spanish hubby, I found a nice work around . . . send out gifts for Day of the Magi (Jan. 6) instead of Christmas Day (at least for the adults). Shoot, you have from the 25th to the 6th for the 12 Days of Christmas. Added bonus, you can get amazing post-Christmas Day deals.

  1. I had one of those cysts where the thumb joins the wrist.
My Doc called it something like a Bible Cyst and said they typically left them alone. Unless they were causing pain. No harm, no foul.
Maybe this is where the term “bible banger” came about? Of course not but I couldn’t help my self. LOL
It magically went away on it’s own. I kind of forgot about it and then one day I noticed that it was gone.
It sounds like this is not interfering with your running, so your doc will probably leave it alone.

    1. Back in 2009 (I think), I popped one with a large thesaurus without any issues. My current one doesn’t hurt, but I have to make a podiastrist appt for a debridement of some kissing corn-related dead skin between my 4th and 5th toes. Nothing major, but it’s something that I have do every 3-6 months. I figure, I could kill two birds with one stone.

  3. Happy to reconnect with your blog, buddy. Hope the cyst goes away one way or another.

My xmas shopping is done, holiday cards are designed, ordered, and received, and some of our outside xmas lights are up (took advantage of nice weather) although they won’t be connected and lit up until November. But aside from my need to be ready ahead of time, I prefer not to see xmas crap in october.
