Well I have been in a bit of a lull; because for some reason I have been super tired. Back when I used to be a scientist, I always thought people with desk jobs had it made. Boy was I wrong.
Intermittent Fast:
Now that Lent is over, I am done with my fasting program.
Pros:
- I lost 7.2 pounds in 40ish days. My scale was acting weird, so I couldn’t determine if there were any changes in my BMI.
- When I break the fast, I do not need to eat as much.
- It kind of nice to change up your eating patterns.
- I do not drink as much booze, because I get buzzed faster.
Cons:
- Since my first meal of the day is typically around 4 PM, I think know that I have been smoking more cigarettes and drinking more coffee and diet coke. I’m gonna try to switch over to drinking green tea.
- Because I’m drinking way more water (about 4-6 liters a day), I have to urinate at lot. Yes, drinking water and urinating are good, but it can be a little rough when you have back to back meetings.
- Once I stop doing the fasting program, it’s hard to start it again. Since I was “celebrating” the Resurrection, I really did not follow my 16-hour daily fast during the past weekend. Today, I was EXTREMELY hungry . . . I almost purchased a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich twice.
For the most part, I think that the IF program worked. I do have to consider that when starting a dieting/work out program, you do lost weight really fast in the the first couple off weeks. Going forward and since I have a vacation to Cancun in 75 days, I think that I will keep up with the IF plan until the trip. What do I have to lose . . . except for some more weight?
Working out:
This week was pretty much lame in terms of physical activity. I went to the gym once this past week for Zumba, but I went to another Zumba class. At first I was a little concerned because there were only 8 women in the class (usually a low number of attendees means that the instructor is kind of lame), but the class turned out to be really fun. I think that I actually surprised the instructor, because she thought that I was going to be “bad” since I am a dude. I showed her π
Working out and Lazy Sundays:
I have noticed that I have been pretty lethargic when it come to Sundays. For the past few weekends, I did not leave the apartment for the entire day. I always say that I’m gong to the the gym, but 4, 5, 6 PM comes around and I’m still watching Hulu or Netflix on the sofa. I decided to check out Beach Body on Demand, since it has a free two-week trial.
After dealing with technical issues for about an hour, I managed to do two Cize workouts. Basically, Cize is kind of like a hip hop Zumba class. The classes that I streamed were fun. However, Beach Body on Demand is pretty cool because you have access all of the Beach Body workouts.
That’s it for me, I hope everyone a great “Welcome Back, Jesus” weekend . . . if that’s your cup of tea.
Congrats on the weight loss and also on sticking with experimenting with your diet. I agree – it’s good to mix it up once in a while!! I really enjoyed Beach Body on Demand, too, and think I may resubscribe to it in the next month or so. I was impressed by the sheer number of videos they have!! A ton compared to some of the other sites. π

What were some of your favorite workouts. There are so many … I need a place to start. π

I mainly did the weight lifting ones with “the beast” (the “Body Beast” and “Hammer & Chisel”) but also liked the PiYo workouts…. none of which are probably the dancing-type workouts that are zumba-like. When I resubscribe, I want to do the Brazilian Butt Lift videos – I didn’t get a chance before my trial ran out. If you try those, let me know how they are! π
